So since today marks the last day of "Black History Month", I was originally going to blog about a fun historical fact about African Americans. Long story short, I voted against it. I decided to write about why is february black history month.
Dr. Carter G. Woodson is who we should give thanks to for Black History Month and the study of Black History. In 1926, he launched "Negro History Week" to bring national attention to the contribution of black people."Woodson chose the second week of February for Negro History Week because it marks the birthdays of two men who greatly influenced the black American population,Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. However, February has much more than Douglass and Lincoln to show for its significance in black American history."
